100 Books Across America: Fiction and Nonfiction for Every State in the Union
This is cool: Inside Netflix and Marvel’s heroic efforts to keep track of all the injuries to their superheroes
This photoessay about similar Hilton rooms around the world is actually pretty soothing.

Morning Coffee (1/2/17)
ICYMI, I have a new email newsletter about what I'm reading. Sign up here!
Nixon's Vietnam Treachery
‘Putin’s Rasputin’ has lauded Donald Trump as a ‘sensation’
While we're at it: The Murder of Rasputin, 100 Years Later
Documentary filmmakers fear more legal challenges in Trump era
Sigh: Poll: Republicans less supportive of Obamacare repeal since election
I want to go there: Universal CityWalk's AMC Theater redesign: No concession lines, a total black box auditorium and a social lounge
Wow, this cult story: Thirty Years in Captivity
!! 'Mythical' Sea Blob Finally Spotted a Century After Its Discovery
Wow: BMW remotely locks a thief inside a car
It's not your grandma's Book of the Month Club
A leaf from Mozart's grave: curiosities from British Library Music Collections

Morning Coffee (4/20/16)
Me elsewhere: Yesterday's Read the Screen Daily Read.
"Under the bright lights of New York, we have seen that it's not enough to diagnose problems," Clinton said. "You have to explain how you actually solve the problems."
On Becoming Anti-Bernie
Why BuzzFeed’s Exploding Watermelon Won’t Destroy Journalism
This is near-perfect: How Every NYC TV Character Would Vote in the New York State Primary
She's great: Viola Davis was not having any of Jared Leto’s shit on the set of Suicide Squad
Amazon adding monthly Prime and video-only options seems like a good business move; I'm one of those people who has had Prime so long I still think of it as mostly a shipping thing. (Once they sent me a PAPER LETTER saying "You know we have video for you to watch, right??")
Speaking of, some much-needed sanity: Chill. It's Not Books vs. Amazon. You Can Have Both!
Well now I absolutely want to read Nicholas and Alexandra.
I'm pretty excited for this new movie about Mozart.
Interesting: The highest-grossing movies made in every state, from ‘Avatar’ to ‘Avengers’ (Some of these are ONLY VERY SLIGHTLY in the state in question, though.)

Morning Coffee (2/14/16)
Me elsewhere: TV news!
The coming fight to replace Justice Scalia, explained
Heh: If you like Bernie Sanders, you’ll love this other longtime progressive (Seriously, some really good arguments there.)
Why Are Millennial Women Gravitating to Bernie Sanders? (This is driving me crazy. Obviously.)
"It certainly seems more fun to be on the side of political revolution than dour pragmatism. But I just can’t make myself believe. That means I’m invested in Clinton, with all her many faults. And being invested in Clinton, it turns out, is excruciating."
Trump Is Beating Cruz in the War Crimes Primary
Why Iraq Doesn't Prosecute Militia Atrocities
Big Tits for 600: The Ugly, Sexist Aftermath of Appearing on 'Jeopardy!'
This Mozart movie sounds interesting.
Neat: Chicago Seen on TV: An Interactive Map of Windy City Shows
Blind Items From A Central Californian Monastery

Morning Coffee (3/7/13)
You should read my friend Hannah on Mattel's ridiculous "women don't know how to play with toy cars" thing.
Fear of a Black Pundit: Ta-Nehisi Coates raises his voice in American media
Whoa: Trouble at the Bolshoi Ballet. To put it mildly.
Don't Blame the Victim, or the Photographer
This piece about figuring out which portraits are actually Mozart is fascinating.
Inside the Demise of NBC's Once-Promising Comedy Up All Night
How the Mango Became the Fruit of Mao
Treasures in the Wall
