Time for some happy Friday links! Don't worry, I have plenty of alarming stuff bookmarked for tomorrow already.

I will admit that I am excited to try the new Diet Coke flavors.
The Fug Girls have a fun write-up of the figure skating national championships, which were FULL of drama.
Good news: The Shirtless Tongan Olympic Flag-Bearer Is Now A Cross-Country Skier
Live Out Your Game of Thrones Dreams in This Game of Thrones Ice Hotel
I need to try this: Lemon Spaghetti: Bright, Fresh, Fast, and Perfect for a Winter Night
Also this: Why spaetzle is the winter noodle to rule them all

Morning Coffee (12/6/17)
Time's person of the year: The Silence Breakers
WHOA: Russia Banned From Winter Olympics by I.O.C.
Hm: Trump lawyer denies Deutsche Bank got subpoena on Trump accounts
Tax Bills Could Expand Private School Benefits and Hurt Public Education
... New Book Claims Hope Hicks Steamed Trump’s Suit While He Was Wearing It
To Cut Waste, U.K. Grocery Chain Will Sell Products Past 'Best Before' Dates (This is a good idea! I have recently discovered that my store vastly marks down yogurt about to expire and it's GREAT.)
Heh: Which Doug Jones Is Which? A Handy Guide.
I am not necessarily convinced that what the world needs right now is Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek.
I like this: Instagram will now create a private archive for all of your stories
Huh: James Patterson Signs Three-Book Deal With Albert Einstein Archives
This is gonna be adorable: Adorable Children to Steal Spotlight During Family Wedding

Morning Coffee (7/21/17)
Time for a break for some happy Friday links!
Your Friday absolutely needs John Boyega's GQ cover story.
Your Friday may also need adorable royal children. Go Fug Yourself has great coverage of the Cambridges' trip to Poland and Germany - start here.
Need another cute baby pic? Adult Justin Trudeau held his namesake Baby Justin Trudeau.
Ahhhh, I hope this comes somewhere nearby! Christmas in the Wizarding World to bring Harry Potter magic to holiday shopping
I'm so excited about the new books about the history of magic in the Harry Potter world.
I want to go to Disney's space restaurant!
Ooh, this sounds good and I hope they expand it to all locations: Starbucks Just Added A New Vegan Lunch Option
I AGREE: You Should Be Making (and Eating) More Icebox Cakes
Lay's "Do Us A Flavor" Finalists Are Here & They Are Wackier Than Ever (I want to try the everything bagel and cream cheese one, at least.)
Need some escapism? 17 of the Most Over-the-top Hotel Suites in the World

Morning Coffee (5/5/17)
I think we all need some happy Friday links this week.
Good news!!! Hillary Clinton to launch political group as soon as next week
Also! You can now buy a new story by Rainbow Rowell and help the ACLU!
This is a fun interview (by Andrew Rannells!) and your Friday could probably be improved by looking at his face: Matt Bomer: The King of Summer TV
What the world needs now: Dorie Greenspan Gets a New York Times Magazine Column and It’s All About Dessert
I assume you want to see Justin Trudeau dressed as a firefighter (kinda).
In Praise of Agatha Christie's Accidental Sleuths
This is GREAT for those of us who like poring over genealogical tables in history books: Royally Connected
Speaking of, Princess Charlotte had her birthday this week and she's very cute.
The Most Ridiculous Jeans Styles of the Year, Ranked
Let's go! New 'Downton Abbey' Exhibit Lets You Walk Through Mrs. Patmore's Kitchen and More

Time for some happy Friday links!
Me elsewhere: I liked The Exorcist more than expected, I guess?
Princess Charlotte & Prince George Play With Bunnies, Pop Bubbles & Melt Hearts in Canada
Mallory Ortberg on making friends on the Internet is wonderful, of course: The Companions of My Heart
This is great: Historic England to relist Oscar Wilde's home and others with gay heritage
I don't agree with all the rankings but Vox's fall TV feature is fun: Every new TV show of fall 2016, ranked
Speaking of, Versailles premieres tomorrow and looks very pretty.
Hee: Famous Illustrators’ Depictions of Knitting Ranked in Order of Competency
I love John Kerry on Rosalind in As You Like It.
How Bake Off led to the rise of Mary Berry, style icon
Oooh: A Journey to Bookland
Let's run away and go on pilgrimage.

Morning Coffee (6/17/16)
Boy, it's been A WEEK. How about some happy Friday links?
Me elsewhere: We've got a new episode of podcast The Fourth Wall; this time I'm asking Holly about ATX Festival!
Michelle Obama’s Kick-Ass Lady Crew Celebrates ‘The United State Of Women’
How the Cast of Hamilton Made Philanthropy Their Mission
!!!!! Canada launches revolutionary Star Trek coin-based economy
This is amazing: Legoland Threw Queen Elizabeth a Birthday Party Entirely Out of LEGO
Related: Prince George and Princess Charlotte came out for Trooping the Colour and THEY ARE ADORABLE.
The Strange Afterlife of Edgar Allan Poe’s Hair
What Queen Elizabeth’s 90 Years of Royal Portraits Tell Us About the Monarch (I misread this as "about the monarchy" and it's interesting from that perspective too, as far as the ways the presentation and perception of the monarchy has evolved.)
"What Milton lacks, unlike Shakespeare, is fans."
IT ME: how to enjoy a fun summer party when you hate fun and you absolutely loathe going outside.
Perfect: Every Modernist Novel Ever

Donald Trump wants to disqualify a judge purely because of his ethnicity
Former Trump University Workers Call the School a ‘Lie’ and a ‘Scheme’ in Testimony
And: Trump University Told Recruiters to Target Single Parents With Hungry Kids
Interesting: Trump Isn't the Campaign Media's First Mistake
Will Cigna And Anthem Merge? How Health Insurance Companies Pump Money Into Politics
"Female doctors are frequently mistaken for nurses or medical students. Female lawyers are assumed to be paralegals or secretaries or court reporters. Female systems administrators are mistaken for personal assistants when their desks are near their boss’s."
Nifty: Shakespeare Sound Effect Tool Found
"Transformed" is perhaps an unnecessarily strong word, but this is an interesting read: How Princess Charlotte’s Birth Transformed the Modern Monarchy
WHY YOU KEEP HAVING THE SAME FIGHT EVERY TIME: A TEXT GAME

Morning Coffee (5/11/16)
Me elsewhere: Trailers for Wayward Pines and Inferno and your Tuesday Daily Read.
Of course the Trump campaign selected a white nationalist leader as a delegate. (Update: They're now claiming it was an error; I'm skeptical but at least this is proof that there are SOME things the campaign can be shamed out of?)
And of COURSE Trump's using MRA language.
This explanation of why it's in Sanders's best interests to enthusiastically support Clinton in the general is eminently reasonable, which makes me skeptical that it will possibly happen that way.
Things in Brazil: Not good!
Austria: Also worrisome!
While we're at it, here's a guide to what's going on in Australia.
I get why tech/business-ignorant people are upset about Facebook suppressing conservative news stories but I cannot believe Congress is treating this as a real thing. I mean, I can, but . . . SIGH. What is WRONG with people?
A Thorough and Only Slightly Satirical Guide to Trump’s Potential Vice Presidential Choices
Ooh, there's nothing I like better than a dishy cult story: Inside Superstar Machine, Which Ex-Members Say Is a Cult Preying on New York’s Creative Women
An important thing to remember in discussions of royalty: Princess Charlotte worth £3.2 billion to UK economy
I had never really thought about 3D printing food but THIS IS FASCINATING.
Wow: Retracing a 1,300-Mile Escape From a Soviet Gulag in WWII

Morning Coffee (5/3/16)
Me elsewhere: Your TV news for the week, and Monday's Daily Read.
Leicester City!!!
Important: Justin Trudeau and Prince Harry Join Forces for Second Historic Hotness Summit (I just noticed The Cut's tag for Trudeau posts is "Trudeaun't Go Breaking My Heart" and that is GREAT.)
Actually important: This Is What a Republican Attack on Bernie Sanders Would Look Like
This is horrifying: Oklahoma court: oral sex is not rape if victim is unconscious from drinking
Well. Obviously there's no way THIS will end terribly: The 'Uber for cops' app lets you summon authorities for 'suspicious people'
Yesterday afternoon I was thinking "I wish Vox would tell me what's going on with this Bitcoin thing" RIGHT AS this popped up in my RSS reader.
A Satanist Explains Why Ted Cruz Is Not, in Fact, Lucifer
Held Back: The Decades of Unfairness Behind the Women’s Soccer Pay Dispute
Heh: Little Scamp Causes Full Minute of Dead Air on NPR on Take Your Child to Work Day
Happy (belated) birthday, Princess Charlotte!! That is one cute kid.
